In the year 2019 another attempt was made to bring Carnival more into the Speyer public. The local Carnival clubs have worked together to fetch the new Mayoress Stefanie Seiler from the town hall, put her in a penitence gown and carry her in a cage to the Altpoertel, where she is "detained" for the rest of the Carnival days.
The new Mayoress is facing her disempowerment rather relaxed, as she looks down from the balcony of the old town hall.
