Cornwall St. Michael's Mount

St. Michael's Mount

St. Michael's Mount is not only the direct translation of Mont Saint Michel in Normandy, it was for a long time the sister abbey, before it was conquered. After the civil war in the 17th century the mount went to the Aubuy family, which still lives there today.

Like the Mont Saint Michel it lies on an island off the coast, and also here the causeway is flooded at high tide (the French amended that in the meantime).

St. Michael's Mount is the landmark and the biggest attraction of the south coast.
