Back at the southern end, directly at the border to Roemerberg at the Rhine dam - there you find the small Speyer base. It was also used in the triangulation survey. The measuring point is marked by the big stone, the small stones mark the lines to the steeple of Heiligenstein (left bottom), to the base point A (left above) and to the north eastern tower of Speyer cathedral (behind the central stone).

As this place has benches, this became unfortunately a place where you can go wild at night without being disturbed. The plaque has been destroyed once and the benches have been set on fire. Both have been restored. In the daytime it is a nice place to sit and relax.
