In this gallery I have put together the fountains of Speyer, with no guarantee that it is complete.
The St. George's Fountain is probably the best known fountain in town, as it stands in the centre in front of the old mint. The figurine on top shows Saint George on the beaten dragon.
The fountain has been errected in 1930 for the fallen in the first world war, therefore it is sometimes also known as warrior memorial. The inscriptions are very nationalistic , and a sign points out that this is the spirit of the times then.
Apart from this, the fountain is very popuar with kids, and most of the times it is surrounded by bicycles. During the christmas market it is also used as a giant advent wreath.
